1. Faculty copyright awareness program 2005
As part of the University's Copyright Compliance Program, the
Copyright Office provides information sessions for each faculty
to ensure they are up to date with changes to Copyright Law,
and to advise any administrative requirements that apply to
the Educational Sector.
The Copyright Office staff is available to run an interactive
information session for each faculty during first semester.
All faculties are asked to contact the Copyright Office to
arrange a suitable time.
These information sessions are important for all new academic
and general staff (sessional, casual, permanent or part-time),
and anyone involved in creating on-line content, or putting
material on-line for teaching purposes.
Contact Jenny Ellis to arrange a training session
(8344 5243 / copyright-office@unimelb.edu.au).
Information is also available at ,
and there is an on-line form for specific questions or copyright
registrations, at .

2. Seminar on teaching and learning issues for
students from Asia
Interested University staff are invited to attend a briefing for
the Faculty International Unit (MDHS) seminar series entitled
“Students from Asia: Teaching and Learning Issues at the
University of Melbourne”.
The briefing follows on from a mid-2004 report presented to
the Academic Board, which identified University-wide issues
related to the teaching of students from Asia. The report

recommendations were accepted by the Board and included
in the 2005 Teaching and Learning Plan. This seminar
will present and discuss the literature review and
key findings of the report.
The seminar presentation is scheduled for Tuesday 19 April
at 1-2 pm in Lecture Theatre 3 of the School of Medicine
Building.
