Qld Premier to give key media lecture

Queensland Premier Peter Beattie will give the University’s 2005 A N Smith Memorial Lecture in Journalism at 6pm on Wednesday 14 December 2005.

Entitled Power without Responsibility: Who Guards the Guardians?, the lecture will canvass whether the principles of freedom of information should be extended to journalists, so that the media can be held to the same tests of honesty as other public institutions.

The lecture will be held in Lecture Theatre GM15 in the Law School.

The lecture is free and open to the public but bookings are necessary on 8344 3885.
