Goulburn Valley Koori Youth Achiever Program participants met Chancellor Ian Renard (centre) on a visit to the University of Melbourne recently.

Pictured with Mr Renard are (from left) Ganbina Koori Economic and Employment and Training Agency’s Leah Lindrea and Year 11 students Kristine Mahy, Aleasha Appo and Kurtis Atkinson.

The students met University leaders and Indigenous staff during their visit.

The University of Melbourne Goulburn Valley has thrown its support behind the program, coordinated by the Ganbina Koori Economic Employment and Training Agency.

The program invests in the next generation of Indigenous leaders and allows young Indigenous people to learn and engage in leadership in the community.

University of Melbourne’s Manager of Development for the Goulburn Valley, Sally Simson, said she was pleased to support the University’s involvement in the project.

“The project’s aim of enhancing the leadership skills of individual participants while also providing immediate and long-term benefits for the local and wider Indigenous community is synonymous with our Indigenous and health objectives in the Goulburn Valley,” she said.
