Alumni awards in Indonesia

Two prominent University of Melbourne alumni have received Australian Alumni Awards in Indonesia. The Awards recognise outstanding talent, achievements and contributions made by Indonesians who have studied in Australia.

Mr Budiman Holan Hendropurnomo (BArch [Hons] 1982) has won the Australian Alumni Award for Creativity and Design and Mr James Riady (BCom 1978) the Australian Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship.

Mr Hendropurnomo heads the Indonesian Office of architects Denton Corker Marshall (called PT Duta Cermat Mandiri in Indonesia).

Mr Riady is the Deputy Chairman of the Lippo Group, a major Indonesian conglomerate with operations throughout the Pacific Rim, including Indonesia, Hong Kong and mainland China.

The awards are an initiative of Australian Education International (AEI) at the Australian Embassy in Indonesia.
