Research shows Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has affected some Vietnam veterans’ sense of smell

Sense of smell lost to stress of war – Visions reporter Rebecca Scott turns the spotlight on a world-first study of Vietnam veterans’ sense of smell, which has revealed that an inability to identify smells indicates extreme symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The University of Melbourne and Austin Health study, published in the international journal Psychological Medicine (April) conducted smell tests on 31 male war veterans with PTSD.
